A Change Is As Good As A Rest…Or So They Say
Hey everyone,
So, what do you think? The Lair of Temptation has received a bit of a makeover. Oh, ok, it’s been completely stripped bare & rebuilt - but as most of that is behind the scenes, it isn’t obvious to the viewer.
This now means it is LOADS more functional than my old theme, so I can get it to do exactly as I want. An ongoing theme in my life!
However…(and yes, this happens in real life too), there is a rebellion going on, and I need to find the ringleader of this rebellion and torture them (or deny them their torture; whatever will cause the most pain).
My current issue is that I can’t get my Post Teaser plugin to work. It’s installed, it says that it is activated, but it isn’t doing anything to my posts. I then tried putting in the code manually (the line that WP suggests using), and that just made a horrible mess of everything.
Any suggestions of other methods or plugins that I can use? At the moment my blog page scrolls down to infinity (or it feels that way) as I do tend to ramble on. Er, a bit like now actually. Whoops.
I have a feeling it may have something to do with the fact that my blog is now on a separate page, but I’m not sure…

Love the new look and especially the purple background - very regal. Is this a family affair?
I had a problem with post teaser this week - wouldn’t work with an update, then there appeared to be another update (this worked). Have you checked that you have the most recent version?

Hey all,
1. Hils, thanks, I’m really pleased with it as well! Yes, you are right so well done for the observation - you may remember on my 25 things about me post that I mentioned that my brother is the most important person in my life…well he’s also a coding genius as well as The Meat King, and made the mistake of offering to totally redo my blog (probably because he got fed up with me asking why nothing would work on my previous theme which was very restrictive as it was a freebie). So here it is, and I’m most impressed with it.
2. Theresa, ha ha, of course it’s still purple! That was a crucial part of the revamping - I do seem to have branded myself with the colour purple (and have done in the real world since I was ooh, about 12!). As I said to Hils above, I’m really pleased with how this has all turned out, so thank you for adding to it with your comment.
So you’ve seen the Twitter background then! I’ve got used to it now, the first couple of days it was a bit weird looking back at myself!
3. TGM, you know how dominance is important to me, especially in my Lair! Referring to your comment on Twitter, yes, the Meat King did indeed do a most excellent job here. Now I just need to make sure that I add to the quality rather than detracting from it! As for tempting - er, you’re in the Lair of Temptation - it would be a personal insult if you didn’t feel tempted!!
4. Tommy my favourite Scots Porridge Oats model!! I see you’ve spotted that I have a new homepage rather than just this blog…indeed you are correct, things will be happening here. At the moment though I just have to keep admiring my whole site as it looks so damn good! Also, now I don’t have that whole footer problem or the not-being-about-to-position-things-in-the-sidebar-where-I-want-them problem so it’s all so much more user-friendly. After all, we all know that positioning is very important to me!!

Wow Nikki, or should I say PMW!
Loving the new look, although you can tell that it’s still a work in progress, a bit like mine (but less obvious!) Yep thats right Im going to be a meanie and pick out the little problems, a bit like today when I was copying all the really annoying stuff that mum does!
Anywayz, as nice as it looks it still needs a few more changes. First off, the title, lovely but as it gets towards the end of the bit underneath the Title it starts to get a lil’ harder to read. I myself have no problems with it as my eyesight is top notch (unlike you oldies over here Lol!) but there will be some random guy (or girl!) that comes along who cant read it, so maybe you might want to make the purple writing a little lighter nearer the end or darker, especially around the grey bit!
Ha, I look really stupid now coz I put first off which should mean that I would have a few more bits of critizism, but I dont! Great, you probably hadn’t noticed that, but now I’ve told you all! Silly me! But anywayz I must dash now as it is etting rather past my bedtime! Lol.
I’ll pop over later to see if you’ve made any more changes!

Oldies indeed! I’ll have you know that I’m 28, so not actually that old in the grand scheme of things!
I do however see your point, and I shall have a play around with colours etc to see whether it can be a little more friendly to the eye. Although how many people actually read that title? Hmm, an interesting question!
I’m back at work now, so there’ll be a bit of a delay before too much more happens here - I’ve got a plan though, and that’s always a good start!
How’s your cat now by the way, has he recovered from his ordeal where he went missing for a few days?

Good point, how many people do read the title? Well I for one and newbies who have come to check out The Lair of Temptation. After all it is an amazing place to be!
Anyway Charlie’s (our cat) fine, in fact he’s fast asleep on the floor. He still hs a limp but he can still attack his brother and climb all the fences round here. He doesnt seem to be in any pain either. I’m just worried about his brother, theres blood all down the wall and theres clumps of hair on the floor. We think its his tail cause when we try to look at it he wont let us.
Anyway thanx for asking!

Glad to hear that your cat is a lot better now. Yeah, cats are funny about things like that - if they’re hurt then they’ll often go off to hide somewhere and won’t let people look at whatever it is that hurts. Our cat (she lives at my parents) managed to singe her tail in the fire last time - the smell of burning hair gave it away! Daft cat. She didn’t hurt herself as it was only the edge of her tail that got caught, but she got quite funny with me when I went to examine it. Mind you, she is technically my cat so is as grouchy as I am!
I hope that your cat’s brother recovers soon - I’m a cat-obsessive, so I know what it’s like to worry about them!

Wow,, what a transformation you have here! Certainly refreshing and inviting.
Overall, I think your new landing page is great, the colour selection that you have chosen compliments each other well and I think the header design is certainly unique.
I personally don’t see what fuss is about this header/clarity issue that seems to crop up on yours, Lizzie’s and TGM’s blog, as I’m sure there are much more important/better things to be getting on with, maybe it’s something you could revisit later if you have a staunch for perfection.
But didn’t somebody say “Perfection was a Sin?”
Anyway I hope I didn’t offend you in anyway, hope you are keeping well and enjoying the lovely sunshine.

Hi Nix, I really hope your b-day was a special day for you. Thanks for checking out my site and letting me know about my errors. I love your purple site and it is your brand. You are definitely getting your brand out there as the Minxy Witch and your Lair of Temptation.
I’m still waiting for the videos, so get it going will ya! It might have to do with the fact that I’ve seen your new Twitter photo and all I gotta say is “Wow” Just get that beauty on video and start teaching people what you know.
Even ask questions and you will get tons of responses. I guess I’m just going to have to bring a video camera to Vegas and interview you. Then I’ll put it online so you can see what I’m talking about. Don’t be afraid, just do it.
If you bring a camcorder to Vegas, just interview all those who you have blog relationships with and you will have awesome content for your site. Plus you can give it away for free and get a lot of signups to your list. The possibilities are endless your Highness and look forward to seeing you and the others there.
The plugins issue is hard to deal with. I have the same problem with adding audio to my theme. Go figure.

Evening everyone, I’ve decided to make a break for it and type a reply before my laptop overheats again.
Had a most random weekend; had 3 strange men in my flat on Sat! No, nowhere near as exciting as that could be sadly. My landlord (ok, so he’s not a stranger), an emergency electrician (not my fault!), and then a policeman as one of the people in the flats upstairs was found dead in their flat. All a bit random!
So I had to indulge in a little retail therapy to soothe me…yes, that does work!

Oh dear, no, you aren’t going to see me on video for a while! Although come to think of it, it isn’t that long until Las Vegas, and I think a few people have threatened to take their video cameras. So I may get more exposure than I had first intended! I don’t own one, so you won’t see any self-shot videos - well, unless I can convert
whatever format my mobile phone uses…
As for “start teaching people what you know” - what, how to be obsessed with purple sparkly things? How to drink more tea than people thought was previously possible? Ok, so I’m being slightly daft. I don’t feel that I know enough to be able to offer anything constructive on video. Well, that of course depends what we are talking about…but that’s a whole different kind of discussion!

KWA - nice! I think we’re all going to have our own acronyms. I like Keyword Angel, that has a nice ring to it. And yes, I do like gingerbread, so I’ll be sure to distract TGM & try one of your biscuits when he isn’t looking!
The main site will become a lot more dynamic and fresh, as that’s where I’ll be promoting various things. Just need to finish creating them first! Don’t worry, I’ll be pestering everyone to visit once I’ve added more content.
Tommy - now, I’ve been thinking about this…it seems all the others are 3 letters long, so you could be SPO or SPM (Scot’s Porridge Oats or Scot’s Porridge Model) - I couldn’t resist that! Or you could be TMc, (er, your name, kind of) or KLS (Kilt-Loving Scot), or SWS (Sporran-Wearing Scot)…I guess these should remain reasonably clean? Might have to ask TGM to come up with a name for you! I shall continue to give it some thought.
Lizzie - hey, new ipod - check you out! I’ve just got a new mobile that’s touchscreen and I know what you mean about the whole typing thing.
If you need help, then the best person I could suggest you speak to would be Tommy (comment above yours) - he’s doing a whole Blog Setup guide with tutorials and videos, and has been more than helpful to me. Pop over to his blog and leave him a message, I’m sure he’ll be able to to advise you!
