I’m Like The Ringleader; I Call The Shots
I have been guilty of procrastination since the New Year. Yes, I work full time, and therefore don’t necessarily have as much time as others to dedicate to this at present. But is that really true? Or am I just a poor judge of efficient time management?
Gary’s 20 traits of Winners vs Losers post highlighted that to me – go and have a look and rate yourself honestly against the 20 points there. It might just give you the wake up call you need.
One thing I have been struggling with recently involves me losing sight of some of my own personal values. I have allowed myself to be concerned with other people’s opinions of me, which is dangerous territory for me to tread upon. The reason I have been considering seeking the approval of others is because I momentarily lost my faith in myself. Why do I tell you this? Because it may happen to you. This blog is documenting my journey to success, and on every journey there will be pitfalls or traps or diversions. Despite myself, I am only human (although some of my skills are out of this world 
).
So how have I got myself out of this state? By being proactive. Firstly, I have recognised my detrimental mindset, and so I can work on changing that. I have also made it a priority to re-read The Guru’s Dream, as it was after reading that in the first place that I was so fired up and ready to take on the internet marketing world. The question begs to be asked though: Is the internet marketing world ready for me?
I am not afraid of working hard to get what I want, although I much prefer to work smart rather than hard. But I always get what I want when I am passionate about it.
This brings me to another issue.
For those of you that can see there is a lot more to me than meets the eye, thank you for appreciating my sense of humour and allowing me to share it with you. I’m glad you enjoy it; it certainly brightens up my day.
To those of you that have ignored the constructive comments I have contributed to others blogs, and that have chosen only to focus on the more superficial aspects of my online presence, this is my warning to you. I have a great deal of fight and passion in me, and I will not be underestimated.
I am in this to succeed, and I am in this to win. So if you don’t want to join me on that path then I suggest you move out of the way.
Message to success: I am coming. And I will conquer you.

Just popping by to see what the purple minx is up to. Never know quite what to expect with you, LOL.
It’s a very honest and open post you put up there. I think the more you let people know about you the greater bond and trust you build up with your visitors. If you reveal your imperfections and warts and all (not saying you have warts, though a lot of witches do apparently!) then they know you are a real person and not just some person wanting to market to them.
Just got your email, btw. Article is exactly the sort of thing that will be useful to many.

Hey Nikki,
Great post, to be able to expose your true feelings on the blogosphere and share your momentary loss of faith in yourself is bravery in itself.
Hey, I’m sure we all go through the same roller coaster rides and swinging mood shifts. I guess it’s just part of human nature.
But it’s great to see that you have the back of some great bloggers out there including the Garrys (that’s Garry and Gary, of course) the Tommys, the Paulls and the rest of us on the AJ’s 500 list.
So keep up the good fight, stay passionate and go forth… and conquer!

Thanks for the very positive responses – it’a always nice to have appreciation from you!
Garry – that’s a very fair point that you made, people don’t know what to expect from me, and I like keeping people on their toes! And FYI, I don’t have any warts
Gaz-Man – I am a Bengal tiger – hear me ROOOOAAAARRR!! As for the other point, well, I just couldn’t help myself…am I selling myself well?!
Tommy – what can I say. That wasn’t the most soul-baring I’ve done, but I thought I’d test the water slightly first. That, and I wanted to make it clear that I’m not just some superficial person messing around. Although as you can certainly appreciate, I do have my moments!
Guy, thanks for popping over, nice to see you here. I’m on a mission now, so there are going to be some changes going on here. Nothing compared to the changes over on Gary’s (Simpson) blog, but hey, I don’t have a super-secret-sleuth working with me! But my game will be stepping up pretty soon…and then world domination will be mine!!

It makes a change to read something positive. I think that all have those moments when we feel a bit low. Then things start to slide.

I can completely understand what you are saying. Sometimes we all need to stand up and shout, ‘I’m still here and I’m gunna do it!!’. I’ve been through the lost stage as I’m sure most of us have been, but it’s a great feeling to come out the other side and see things clearly again.
I think you are doing brilliantly, much better than me. I have to admit finding the interacting part slightly challanging at times, which I suppose is just a confidence thing but I am working on it.
Anyway, well done on your positive thinking and action!

I too have been taking it slowly so far this year. Lost my momentum abit. I think it’s OK to cruise along for a little while, just as long as you don’t take your foot entirely off the pedal.
Sometimes a break is required to re-organise your thoughts and your priorities. Not such the Gazz-Man would agree – but we are all making progress and that’s what counts.
There’s still plenty of time for your world domination!

I have to apologize that this is my first visit to your place. I came by originally to say Well Done on your article in the newsletter. I never think about using any html in posts, except for links. Hmmmm … something to consider.
Anyway, that’s why I originally came by, but then I read your post and it really resonated with me. I’ve been feeling in a funk and just not working my plan effectively. I think re-reading the Guru’s Dream is a great idea. Thanks for the kick in the butt!

I wasn’t sure about putting this post up – I had written it late last Friday on a bit of a mission, and I wasn’t sure how it would be received. However, I believe in being open and honest (some might say I’m a little too open & honest sometimes), and so I thought I’d share. Judging by your responses, it’s something that has been useful to many.
Alan, I’m glad you found it positive and helpful in that respect. It was quite therapeutic getting it all out (no Gaz-Man, not like that!).

I will get there though, no-one said world domination was an overnight thing! You always have really helpful posts on your blog, so I know whenever I encounter a problem that your blog is a good place to start looking for answers.

Hi Dave – thank you! It’s the first time that I’ve done something like that, so I was really pleased that Garry and Gary liked it and felt it worthy of inclusion. I’ll be doing more as soon as I’ve decided what to write about, so if there’s anything you like to be covered, then please let me and Garry (Parkes) know (as if I can’t do it, Garry will know who can!).
I do agree with you that a break is necessary to re-organise your thoughts – particularly as a lot of us are working full time in the real world as well as creating our own online journeys – we have to remember that we are only human, and we will need time off!! Self doubt is a b**ch, eh? Me too. I’ve been sitting back a little, probably at some crossroads here, just trying to decide my place and path. I’m now in the middle of a revamp. I started a post at the blog, but held off, now it looks as though it’s going to be two or three parts.
Then came the “Simpson Tsunami” and the newsletter, so if I put up a post now, no one would see it. I’ll hang and strategize…Jeez, I didn’t come here to talk about me…
So great job on the newsletter. You’ll see the impact soon as everyone starts to “bold up” their names and underline stuff. Perhaps even a block quote if one feels adventurous!
I believe that those of us who have varied and great skills, but not necessarily pertaining to internet marketing, are having the most diffculty in finding our own “path”. How to make those passions or life experiences relevent to our online venture. Ah, that is the question…

Great post, really great post, and it’s wonderful that you are sharing your insights and how you are feeling as well – and I certainly know what you mean about losing the faith issue –
I’ve lost it quite a few times already during this course but armed with Gary’s motivational planner (x3) under one arm, an internet RPG under the other, along with 3 different coachings course on my back and one in my backpack along with unlimited ammunition in my wizardry satchel along with an invisible cloak – I’m finally getting back on track again.
Oh and not to forget all the wonderful support that every student has been offering as well.
Anyway, keep up the great work and here a toast to your conquering success – Cheers!!!

I saw the comments from Linda [Q], over on her site I think, saying that she said she was surprised you were still working a day job. I think by the end of this year I don’t think you will be and I hope to be there right by your side doing many JV’s together as I mentioned before in emails.
Thanks very much for the kind words you mentioned about me above. It is very much appreciated but I’d like to say on your site the pleasure was all mine. Your article was very well received and deservedly so as it was well written, well presented and informational to boot so it made my job very easy.
Have you noticed a lot more people are using formatting in their comments all over the blogs. I wonder who that is down to In the end that’s the greatest measure of success – if people found it useful – and it passes that test with flying colours.

Sorry but I don’t believe I’ve been to your blog before. With these colors I’m sure I’d remember. In the beginning of Alex’ coaching I started visiting different blogs and leaving comments but slowly ventured away and without even realizing it I was only visiting the same ones over and over again.
(BTW, I like your blog colors.)
That’s a big mistake on my part as there are so many great blogs out there with tons of valuable information.
Anyway, I just came from Garry Parke’s blog and saw a comment by you. Plus I have seen your name pretty much on all the blogs that I do visit so I figured I would come over and introduce myself.
I have been having similar problems the last month or so as you stated in this post.
I wouldn’t say I’ve been guilty of procrastination but certainly I haven’t been doing what I should be doing.
I really have a hard time focusing. I do have a plan and I start off each day OK but somewhere along the line I seem to loose my way. In fact, I think I’ll head back over to my blog and make a post about how I’ve lost focus. Maybe if I write about it I’ll wake up and do something about it.
I don’t want to take up any more of your time but I did want to say hello. I am going to make a promise right here on your blog that I’m going to try and visit more student’s blogs on a regular basis.
