Are you proud of your business?

I know, this may sound like an odd question.  But I’ll ask it again anyway:

Are you proud of your business?

When people ask you what you do, do you answer with enthusiasm?  If you see a Follow Friday post on social media, are you in there straight away sharing the social media profile for your business?

Or are you hesitant?

If someone asks about your website, do you tell them the URL confidently (or hand over a beautiful business card), or do you just mutter “oh, well, er, it’s not quite finished yet”.

Comparisonitis. Why do we torture ourselves with it so much?!

I had a mini epiphany over the weekend (I was drinking tea & eating a teacake; good brain food!).

You see, I think some of what has been holding me back in the online business world is that *gasp* other people teach what I can teach, and I don’t want people thinking I’ve copied them.

And I know all the “but you’ll teach it in a different way / people will resonate with your personality & style (or not)” business. But I still have felt inferior.

My Kindle Publishing Journey Part One: Procrastination dressed as perfectionism

I have wanted to write a book for ages.  I love writing.  When I left my old job I created a Purple Book of handover notes that ended up at over 22,000 words long.  I’ve been blogging for years.  I’ve written all manner of PDF worksheets, information books, etc.

So I know I CAN write.

But as of yet, I haven’t ventured onto the Kindle.  Now, this keeps coming up as something I really want to do.

“Oh, but it’s complicated, you’ve got to get all the formatting right”

“How long does a Kindle book need to be (word-count-wise)”

My first month since leaving my job

So, as you may be aware, I left my full-time job of over 8 years at the end of February.

There were a few reasons for doing so, one of which was that I could finally dedicate my time to following my dream of being a ‘proper’ online entrepreneur (as opposed to one just dabbling around).

So I thought I’d share how my first month has been.
